I'm fairly certain that these fine people of Elmore have, once, encountered the unpredictable fanfiction.
Good or bad, black or white, cheese or pepperoni, fanfictions are everywhere. And now, we are joining in the very unhyper hype as well.
Here are some guidelines when you post a masterpiece. (By Cwisteh and revised by Goldfi$h)
1. Make it legible. Give it some effort. It doesn't have to be Shakespeare or Mark Twain. Please make it READABLE. Divide parts into paragraphs, make dialogue easy to read. (Even if you have to use SCRIPT form to do this.) If you want to be all OCD about the spelling and grammar, fine, whatever. It's YOUR fanfiction. If you want to write it how it pops into your head, that's good too. You do what you need to do.
2. Accept constructive critiques and compliments. Do not turn into a raging ball of fury when one person states that the style of writing is a little choppy. Work on it and turn into a story-writing god. If being a story-writing god isn't exactly your goal, that's okay, then. You can carry on without biting the critic's head off, I'm sure of it. It's not worth it to get into an argument with someone who doesn't even know your name.
Also, don't be too critical of other stories. If you wouldn't want to hear someone say it about your story, don't say it about any other story. Advice is a good thing, but don't say things that will trigger other people's anger.
3. Please, please, please, for the love of gosh, use as few OCs as you can. And give them proper introductions if you do! Some of us are more interested in the canon universe than someone who tries to hog Penny's spotlight. Some of us haven't seen many TAWoG episodes, and will get confused on who is real or not. Not to say that we wouldn't appreciate the occasional, good, OC-involved storyline, but do include a few characters of the original, canon Gumball universe. You'll thank us later, when you find yourself remembering that the OC you cut has every boy get a random, unreasonable crush on her in one of her prototype plots, or Gumball completely loses all feelings for Penny over her and later decides to leave Penny for dead.
Yeah. It's happened.
4. Off-character dialogue and actions. It happens to the best of us. At least try to control it, for the egostitical, cowardly, well-meaning doofus we call Gumball. Unless Gumball is supposed to be acting weird for a good reason, try to keep the actions to what Gumball would do.
5. Needless to say keep R rated fanfiction in the Mature board. That's there for a reason. Acknowledge that reason.
6. Have fun and enjoy writing! Remember, rules can be broken, under the right circumstances!
